In December 2017, Kyiv Contemporary Music Days (KCMD) organized an international festival of contemporary academic music in Kyiv, combining concerts, masterclasses, and lectures. The festival brought together performers, composers, and educators from Europe, Japan, Australia, and Ukraine, creating an intensive platform for artistic exchange and professional development.

The concert programme featured solo and chamber performances by musicians from Ensemble Modern, IEMA, Klangforum Wien, and the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie, as well as emerging performers participating in the festival's masterclasses. The repertoire focused on 20th- and 21st-century music and included works by Olivier Messiaen, Fausto Romitelli, Toshio Hosokawa, Joji Yuasa, Luciano Berio, Bernhard Lang, Kaija Saariaho, and others. The culmination of the festival was the concert Liturgie de cristal, presenting Messiaen's Quatuor pour la fin du temps alongside works by Hosokawa and Romitelli.

The educational part of the programme included international masterclasses for composers and performers, led by Stefan Prins, Jaime Reis, and members of Ensemble Modern and IEMA, as well as a public lecture by Ukrainian composer and musicologist Mykola Kovalinas.
